The Boardwalk: Then and Now

Reliving Childhood Memories
As a local of Seaside Heights, I’ve seen the boardwalk go through many changes over the years. I remember the days where it was lined with arcades, merry-go-rounds, and traditional ice cream shops. It was a place where families could spend the whole day playing games, eating delicious treats, and creating memories. As I stroll through the boardwalk today, I can’t help but feel nostalgic and think about how much has changed. But don’t worry, the boardwalk is still the perfect place for families to spend their summer vacation.

Modern Day Attractions
Although the traditional arcades and merry-go-rounds are no longer present on the boardwalk, there are plenty of new and exhilarating attractions for families to enjoy. One of the most popular is the Seaside Heights Sky Ride, where you can get a bird’s eye view of the whole boardwalk and beach. The Casino Pier Waterpark is also a must-visit for families, with its exciting water slides and lazy river. And don’t forget about the iconic roller coaster that has been a staple of the boardwalk for decades, providing thrills for all ages.

Food Galore
No trip to the boardwalk would be complete without indulging in some delicious treats. The boardwalk has always been known for its variety of food options, and that remains true today. From classic boardwalk favorites like funnel cakes and cotton candy to more modern options like gourmet pizza and seafood dishes, there is something for everyone. And let’s not forget about the iconic Kohr's Frozen Custard, which has been a family favorite for generations. A trip to the boardwalk just isn’t complete without a cone of this creamy goodness.

Entertainment for All Ages
The boardwalk is not only known for its attractions and food but also for its lively entertainment. From live music performances at the Seaside Heights Bandshell to street performers and magicians, there is no shortage of fun and laughter on the boardwalk. Families can also catch a classic movie at the Beach Cinema or challenge each other to a game of mini-golf. And of course, the fireworks display every Wednesday night is a must-see for all ages.

Preserving the Nostalgia
The changes to the boardwalk may be bittersweet for some, but it’s important to remember that change is necessary for progress and growth. However, as a local, I’m happy to say that the charm and spirit of the traditional boardwalk can still be felt throughout Seaside Heights. And it’s up to the families visiting to keep those nostalgic memories alive by creating new ones that they will cherish for years to come. So, come on down to the boardwalk and experience the best of both worlds – the then and the now.
