The Hidden Gems of Bellevue, NE: Exploring the City as a Local

Discover the Historic Downtown
Bellevue, Nebraska is a charming city located just south of Omaha. While most tourists tend to focus on the attractions of the bustling city, the historic downtown area of Bellevue offers a unique and authentic charm that is often overlooked. As a local, I highly recommend taking a stroll through the downtown area and exploring the quaint shops, cozy cafes, and beautiful historic buildings. You will get a true feel for the city's history and culture. Take a Hike at Fontenelle Forest
For nature lovers, a visit to Fontenelle Forest is a must. This 1,400-acre forest is home to a variety of plant and animal species and offers over 26 miles of hiking trails. As a local, it is one of my favorite places to escape the chaos of city life and connect with nature. The views of the Missouri River from the bluffs are breathtaking and the peacefulness of the forest is truly rejuvenating. Visit Offutt Air Force Base
Bellevue is also home to the historic Offutt Air Force Base, the headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Command. For those interested in military history and aircraft, a visit to the base is a must. The Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum, located within the base, showcases a variety of aircraft and exhibits that highlight the history of the U.S. Air Force. The base also hosts an annual air show that is a must-see for both locals and tourists. Indulge in Local Cuisine
No trip to Bellevue is complete without trying out some of our delicious local cuisine. The city offers a variety of dining options ranging from traditional American dishes to international cuisines. As a local, some of my favorite spots include Stella's Bar and Grill for the best burgers in town, Kregers for delicious BBQ, and Block 16 for unique and tasty sandwiches. Don't forget to also try out our iconic Runza sandwich, a must-try for first-time visitors. Experience Bellevue's Festivals and Events
Throughout the year, Bellevue hosts a variety of festivals and events that showcase the city's culture and community. Some popular events include the Bellevue Farmers Market, Bellevue Art Walk, and the Sarpy County Fair. Be sure to check the city's event calendar before your visit to see what is happening during your stay. You might even be lucky enough to experience our annual Bellevue Beer Fest or the Bellevue Bridge Beats, a free summer concert series. Find Your Adventure in Bellevue
From history and nature to food and festivals, Bellevue offers something for every type of traveler. As a local, I take pride in sharing the hidden gems of our city with visitors. So if you're planning a trip to Bellevue, make sure to add these experiences to your itinerary and see the city through the eyes of a local. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
