Keeper of the Plains
Designed by Native American artist Blackbear Bosin, the Keeper of the Plains is a tribute to the rich Native American history and culture of the area. The sculpture was installed in 1974 and has since become an iconic symbol of Wichita. Visitors can walk around the base of the sculpture and admire its intricate details and symbols.
In addition to admiring the sculpture itself, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful surrounding area. The Keeper of the Plains is situated at a scenic overlook where visitors can take in stunning views of the river and downtown Wichita. The nearby Mid-America All-Indian Center also offers a wealth of information about Native American history and culture.
