Veterans Memorial Park
One of the highlights of the park is the Veterans Memorial Plaza, which features a 70-foot tall obelisk surrounded by bronze statues depicting scenes from different wars. Visitors can also explore the Kansas Veterans Walk of Honor, where over 2000 bricks are inscribed with the names and information of Kansas veterans and their families. The Plaza also hosts an annual Memorial Day ceremony, where the community comes together to honor and remember those who have given their lives in service.
In addition to the memorials, Veterans Memorial Park also offers recreational activities such as a fishing pond, playgrounds for children, and a 2.5-mile walking trail. The park is also home to the Kansas Aviation Museum, where visitors can learn about the role of Kansas in aviation history and see vintage aircraft up close.
