Liberty Park
Liberty Park was originally known as Blocton Prison, a Civil War prison built in 1894 to house Confederate prisoners of war. The prison was later converted into an agricultural school and then a tuberculosis sanatorium. In the early 20th century, the land was purchased by the city of Sylacauga and transformed into a public park. Today, visitors can explore the remains of the prison and learn about its history through educational exhibits.
