Booking a Hotel in Abington, MA
Abington is located halfway between the cities of Boston and Plymouth. Before the town was settled, it was known by the local Native Americans as Manamooskeagin, which means "great green place of shaking greens” because of its beautiful meadows and streams.
You can see this beauty on display at the Ames Nowell State Park where several miles of trails take you around Cleveland Pond and through the surrounding woods. The pond is a great spot for boating and fishing. Island Grove Park is another great outdoor destination and is considered the Crown Jewel of Abington. The site, originally an important meeting spot for abolitionists, is now a beautiful 11-acre peninsula park. This serene pine-shaded park features a large sand bottom swimming pool, charcoal grill-equipped picnic areas, playgrounds, a snack shack, walking trails, and fishing.
If you are visiting in the fall, you won’t want to miss a terrifying night at Barrett's Haunted Mansion.
