With French settlements dating back to over 300 years ago, and part of the St. Louis Metro, his unique town is home to the Cahokia Mounds, a pre-Columbian settlement abandoned by 1300 CE. Now, an Illinois State Historic Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can tour the area and see many of the items found during archaeological excavations. 


Resettled by the French about 300 years ago as a Catholic mission, Cahokia is home to a large number of historic building. With the building dating back to the late 18th century, and the congregation going back another 100 years, make sure you don’t miss Church of the Holy Family. Cahokia is also home to a number of French Colonial and Federal Period buildings on the National Historic Register.
