The downtown area is home to the Cheney Historical Museum, dedicated to gathering and preserving and sharing the history of the area.
Cheney Rodeo Days is a popular event held the second week of July each year. Three days of competition are held along with other festivities including a parade and street fair.
Another popular place for locals and visitors is the Columbia Plateau Trail, State Park. Currently, 23 miles of trails are open for public use activities including horseback riding, bicycling, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Best times for viewing wildlife are between mid-March through mid-May.
