Claremont lies on the New Hampshire side of the New Hampshire – Vermont state line, along the banks of the Connecticut River, and is dissected by the Sugar River.

Nearby are several state parks to enjoy in this scenic area including West Windsor Town Forest, Little Ascutney State Wildlife Management Area, Wilgus State Park, and Spaulding Wildlife Management Area. 

In town, several parks providing outdoor fun are Moody Park, Barnes Park, and Monadnock Park.  Arrowhead Recreation Area was a ski hill, but now presents hiking and biking in the summer and tubing and other snowy fun in the winter, and the Sugar River Trailhead is definitely worth a visit.
