Monterey, California located on the southern edge of Monterey Bay and only 4.2 miles from Carmel-by-the-sea.  A must first stop, The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a known world-wide as a premier aquarium with around two million visitors annually. The aquarium is inside of a former sardine cannery which now holds over thousands of plants and animals representing over 600 species. Multiple exhibits will keep you in awe from the Ocean's Edge Wing growing live kelp, to the Open Sea Exhibit featuring one of the world's largest single-paned windows. After a day at the aquarium step right out into Cannery Row and tour the now-defunct sardine canning factories converted to shops, hotels, and restaurants. A short walk through Cannery Row will bring you to San Carlos Beach, which is very famous for Scuba Divers and kayak launching. Continue walking on the coastal trail for grand views of the harbor and friendly neighborhood sea lions, and you'll end up at Fisherman's Wharf.  The Wharf is a major tourist attraction filled with some of the best seafood restaurants in the world.
