Nantucket boasts several lighthouses still in operation, the oldest house on the island still standing, the Jethro Coffin House, was built in 1686, and the oldest functioning mill in U.S., called The Old Mill, was built in 1746.
There are also several museums to visit including The Nantucket Whaling Museum which contains exhibits regarding island history as well as a whale skeleton and claims its home in an old candle factory. The Nantucket Lifesaving Museum displays the history of the many rescues and shipwrecks on the island.
Nantucket is jam-packed with public beaches for all to enjoy including the Children’s Beach which is ideal for families. Sconset Beach and Bluff Walk allow for both relaxation and a view of beautiful historic homes.
