A short drive away from Delano is the Pixley National Wildlife Refuge featuring seasonal marshes and last of the San Joaquin Valley Grassland habitat. This habitat is vital for a variety of species including the threatened Tipton kangaroo rat, Blunt-nosed lizard, and Kit Fox.
