Buckman Tavern
It was originally owned by John Buckman, a prominent farmer and innkeeper, who provided food, drink, and lodging to travelers passing through the town. However, the tavern gained notoriety during the Revolutionary War when it became a meeting place for colonial leaders, including John Hancock and Samuel Adams.
In fact, on April 19, 1775, the British troops marched past the tavern on their way to Concord and Lexington, where the first battles of the Revolution took place. Today, visitors can tour the old tavern and learn about its rich history through interactive exhibits and artifacts. So come and experience a piece of American history at Buckman Tavern.
