San Francisco Plantation House
The plantation was originally owned and operated by the Woodland family, who were prominent sugar cane growers. The house is named after San Francisco Roman Catholic Cathedral, which was a major influence on the design of the building.
Today, the plantation house is open to the public for tours that provide a glimpse into the lives of the wealthy plantation owners and the enslaved individuals who lived and worked on the land. It is a powerful and important reminder of the complicated and troubled history of the South and a must-see destination for anyone interested in learning about the region's past.
