First Impressions: Whenever I have friends or family visiting from out of town, I always make sure to take them to The St. James Hotel's signature restaurant, The Port. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit - the historic charm of the building, the elegant decor, and the beautiful Mississippi River views create a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

The Menu: The Port offers a diverse menu featuring locally-sourced ingredients and seasonally inspired dishes. From classic American fare to more unique options, there is something for everyone. I highly recommend starting with the Walleye Chowder, a rich and flavorful soup that is a staple in the area. Their entrees are also top-notch - the Minnesota Walleye and Prime Rib are my personal favorites.

The Service: The staff at The Port truly goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and always willing to make recommendations or accommodate dietary restrictions. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a great meal, the service alone is worth coming back for.

The Ambiance: As mentioned, the historic ambiance of The St. James Hotel is unlike any other in the area. The Port specifically features beautiful views of the Mississippi River, making it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or to impress out of town visitors. The dim lighting and cozy seating add to the overall ambiance, making you feel like you've stepped back in time.

Overall Experience: I cannot recommend The St. James Hotel - The Port enough. It's the perfect combination of delicious food, exceptional service, and a unique atmosphere. The fact that it has been a beloved local spot since opening before 2000 speaks volumes about its quality and staying power.
