One of my favorite outdoor spots in Aurora is Cherry Creek State Park. This 4,000-acre park offers a variety of activities for all ages, but hiking is definitely a must-do. With over 35 miles of trails, you can choose to go for a short leisurely walk or challenge yourself with a longer hike. The trails are well-maintained and provide stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Along the way, you may even spot some of the park's resident wildlife such as deer and rabbits. Pro tip: bring a picnic and stop at one of the many designated scenic areas for a break and a delicious meal surrounded by nature. Wildlife Watching at Morrison Nature Center
For families interested in learning more about the wildlife in Aurora, a visit to Morrison Nature Center is a must. This nature preserve is home to a variety of animals, birds, and insects. It is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, perfect for a quiet stroll or bird-watching. The drive alone is worth it, but I highly encourage stopping at the summit and taking a short hike to the peak for an even more stunning view.
