If you have kids in tow, then Sunrise Park is a must-visit. With playgrounds, a splash pad, and even a sand volleyball court, this park is perfect for families looking to expend some energy. I highly recommend bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying it at one of the shaded picnic tables while the kids play. And for the animal lovers, there's even a pond where you can spot turtles and ducks. A Nature Lover's Paradise at Crane Creek Regional Park
Crane Creek Regional Park is a hidden gem in Rohnert Park. This expansive park offers over 3 miles of hiking trails that will take you through oak woodlands, grassy meadows, and along a peaceful creek. I love coming here in the spring when the wildflowers are in full bloom, and in the fall when the leaves change color. It's also a great spot for birdwatching, with over 130 species of birds recorded at this park. Unplug and Unwind at Roberts Lake
For those looking for a more relaxed outdoor experience, Roberts Lake is the perfect spot. This man-made lake is surrounded by a walking trail and offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Fishing is also allowed with a valid California fishing license, so be sure to pack your rod and bait. You can also rent kayaks and paddleboards to explore the lake's tranquil waters. And if you're lucky, you might even spot some of the resident ducks and geese. A Foodie's Paradise at Rohnert Park Farmers Market
For a unique twist on outdoor recreation, I highly recommend visiting the Rohnert Park Farmers Market. Every Friday afternoon, local vendors gather at the city center to offer an array of freshly grown produce, locally sourced meats, and homemade goods. It's the perfect opportunity to support local businesses and stock up on delicious ingredients for a picnic or BBQ at one of Rohnert Park's many parks.
